HAB Bursts Greatest Hits
We were exchanging pix of HABs bursting. Here are a few.
W6MRR-22 10 Day Prediction
The transmitter/antenna is having problems. It is sending WSPR on 20 m and 30 m. Today was the first day receiving 20 m reports. May not have great tracking over much of flight.
W6MRR-21 goes splash east of Japan
After more than 10 days in the air, W6MRR-21 stopped transmission over the Pacific. Circumnavigation or bust!

W6MRR-21 West of Baja
Altitude reporting isn’t working but here’s a Hysplit prediction based on expected altitude.
W6MRR-20 Last Transmission
W6MRR-20 was approaching Iceland and stopped sending at sundown. It’s altitude was reporting between 1 W (9,000 m – 9,900 m) and 2 W (9900 m – 11,100 m). It must have developed a leak.
KF6ZEO-12 Launch
Today we had an interesting launch. Windy.com’s predictions were promising but we waited and waited for a lull. We were shooting for a six g net lift. We thought we were okay with about a 60 degree angle. On release the wind took the balloon sideways and the lower dipole dipped in the water. ItContinue reading “KF6ZEO-12 Launch”
W6MRR-20 Visits Great Lakes/Canada
W6MRR-20 was launched at 9 am PST October 9 from Berkeley Marina. It was transported overnight from NW Los Angeles to the Great Lakes. I am using new software to send Type 3 WSPR messages for better location but there’s a bug in the The AMSAT Argentina LU7AA website is really interesting – check itContinue reading “W6MRR-20 Visits Great Lakes/Canada”
Launch on Thursday @ 11:30 AM and Saturday @ 9 AM
We will be sending balloons from the Berkeley Marina There is a bug in the software so it is sending on 20/30 m on alternate transmissions. I am testing with just a short wire and am receiving it fine so it will be interesting how it does with a 20 dipole. Tune in for K6RGGContinue reading “Launch on Thursday @ 11:30 AM and Saturday @ 9 AM”
